Woodend depicts
a run-down branch line for which it is only a matter of time before closure.
Local branch passenger services, both loco hauled and DMU, supplemented by daily
pick-up goods trains serving local industries, still make the line viable - but
only just.
The line can be
run to three periods of time.
i.)
1955-1958 B.R. (E.R.) steam only.
ii.)
1962/63 - a mixture of steam and early green diesels.
iii.)
1966 - green diesels only.
For a
total change, the layout can also be operated as a late steam/early diesel, ex
G.W.R. branch, since building style on the layout does not lend itself to any
one location.
The locomotives
and rolling stock are a mixture of both kit built and detailed, weathered
ready to run.
