This
Scalefour
layout is an attempt to portray what might have been. Structures are mostly built in card and plastic sheet and are
based on those that existed locally. Locomotives and stock are ready to
run, kit or scratch built to represent those seen in north and east
Lincolnshire.
Currently
being extended and re-modelled will be ready for the 2010 Exhibitions
The
Louth and East Coast Railway was granted powers to build a branch from
Saltfleetby to Saltfleet and North Somercotes when the line from Louth
to Mablethorpe was authorised in 1864. In the 1890s the Saltfleetby
Light Railway also promoted a line from Cleethorpes to Saltfleetby.
Neither of these lines were built but it is possible that Saltfleet
could have grown in size and with rail links to the haven may have
become a focal point for these lines operated jointly by the GCR and GNR.
